CHAPTER ONE · 2015
The NICU taught us what we couldn't see from outside.
When our daughter was born preterm in 2015, the medical care she received was excellent. The neonatologists were skilled. The NICU team worked through nights. We were lucky - and we knew it.
But as we sat by her incubator for weeks, Nisha - a fashion designer by training - began to notice the small things the medical team had to improvise around. The makeshift positioning rolls fashioned from towels. The improvised cap, cut from a stocking, that kept slipping during CPAP support. And the extremely expensive imported alternatives.
Many fixes were workarounds. And many of them weren't even designed for a baby this small.

CHAPTER TWO · LISTENING TO THE NICU PERSONNEL
Four years later, Amit went back to the NICUs. This time as a listener.
In 2019, Amit began visiting NICUs across India — not as a parent, but as a researcher. He sat with Neonatologists, NICU Nurses, and Developmentally Supportive Care specialists. He asked one question over and over: what are you improvising around?
Doctors showed him the workarounds. Nurses described the daily problems they faced. DSC experts walked through the clinical principles that imported products often ignored.

CHAPTER THREE · DEVELOPING SOLUTION-BASED PRODUCTS

Every documented problem became a product brief.
Back in Jaipur, Amit and Nisha worked with fabric specialists, manufacturing partners, and clinical advisors to translate each documented NICU pain point into an innovative prototype that could directly solve a problem.
Every prototype went back to the doctors who'd named the problem. Tested. Refined. Sometimes scrapped. Nothing shipped until DSC specialists who first improvised around the problems trusted the solution.
The result wasn't a single product. It was a system of fabric-based NICU care — co-designed with the people who would use it.

Imported NICU products are expensive. Ours are priced to be affordable. We cut the import margin, not the quality. Indian manufacturing, Indian craftsmanship, Indian prices — so the right product reaches the babies who need it most.
